Keynote talk: Immersive Visualization – A Brief Reflection and Envision

Presenter: Dr. Yalong Yang (School of Interactive Computing, Georgia Tech)

Abstract: Immersive and situated analytics have emerged in recent years as maturing fields spanning virtual reality, augmented reality, visualization, and human-computer interaction. It aims to revolutionize how humans interact with data by leveraging the advanced display and interaction capabilities of modern head-mounted displays. In this talk, I reflect on recent advances in immersive visualization, considering the significant role it plays in immersive and situating analytics, through the lens of two foundational pillars of visualization: representation and interaction. I will then demonstrate how these core techniques enable new possibilities for analyzing data in real-world applications. Lastly, I will discuss several promising areas for future research. By completing and expanding the ecosystem of immersive and situated analytics, we can push the productivity and engagement of data analytics to the next level.
